Winner of 1st place in the ranking of sundried tomatoes of the prestigious "Gambero Rosso" Italian magazine, the sundried tomatoes produced by Masseria Mirogallo are a true excellence among the preserves in oil.

They are obtained by fully harvesting the own production tomatoes, these are cut in two and arranged to dry in the scorching sun. Once completely dehydrated they are cooked in vinegar, squeezed well and neatly arranged in a jar, at this point they are covered with extra virgin olive oil to which a pinch of oregano is added. They do not contain any preservatives.

The dried tomatoes in oil of Masseria Mirogallo are an explosion of taste which is concentrated due to the effect of dehydration. Excellent to be enjoyed with bread as a side dish or as an appetizer, excellent to be eaten on focaccia or to create delicious croutons in combination with mozzarella.

THE PRODUCER: The Belfiore family has been farming since the 1800s. Their farm, the Azienda Mirogallo, is on 70 acres of land in Lucania, the southern portion of Basilicata.Matera’s surrounding area is knows as Lucana, a very fertile valley dotted with family farms, locally named “Masserie.”

The Mirogallo family is specialized in the cultivation and preservation of heirloom varieties of fruit and vegetable from which they hand-make very high quality pantry products. Everything is put in a jar by Masseria Mirogallo comes from the fields around and the only preservatives that are used are vine- gar and salt. Every summer, the Mirogallo farm is bustling with many farm-workers hand harvesting perfectly sun-ripe fruit and vegetables. Inside the old white washed farm building, a state-of- the-art kitchen transforms the bounty of every day into a wide array of jars of all color and sizes.
